Today in class, classmates Laurel and Gabrielle presented about KidBlog.

KidBlog is a child-friendly blogging website. KidBlog advertises their website as "Safe, Simple, Authentic and Transformative. It is an excellent way for teachers to have students post onlie safely and under their watch, and teaches kids technological skills while staying supervised and monitored.
KidBlog creates a community within classrooms. It allows children who may be sick or on vacation to post about their trip or how they are doing, and lets other classmates reply and talk to their classmates posts. The blogging atmosphere of this website encourages children to write because of the fact that their peers and view and respond to it, and again : teachers moderate all content, so nothing goes live until you say so.
I think this website is a great way to create an online network and a great community within a classroom, and a wonderful way for parents to check online with what's happening at school. Teachers can use this to post updates and homework, students can use it to communicate with their class while away and parents can use it to monitor their children and their friends.
