In class last week, Valerie showed us an app called Aurasma - an augmented reality platform. The example that Valerie showed us was with an animation. She took a picture of a coiled up rubber band on a table, and this was the "hotspot". She then picked an animation of a dog and assigned it to that hotspot. Now, if someone hovers over that spot with the app, a dog will appear.
This example is obviously very simple, but the possibilities are endless with this app. A simple classroom can be turned into Hogwarts, a hallway can turn into a dragon's lair. With this app, one can create treasure hunts or turn rudimentary lessons into excitement.

This video shows some neat ways to use Aurasma in the classroom. I especially liked the way this teacher used Aurasma for feedback to the kids - it makes it a little bit more fun.
